Our VisionThe Main Event Cobras Youth Organization, Inc. is a youth organization founded in 1999, to develop our youth to their academic and athletic potential through basketball and academic programs; to cultivate them on and off the basketball court which would enhance their opportunities to enter the high school and ultimately college of their choice. I continuously found that resources and activities are available to youth who either excel or are very low- low-income. However, those students in the middle literally had to fend for themselves. In response to these specific students, we created sports camps and expanded to mentoring and educational programs to address the needs of this particular demographic.
Our MissionMain Event brings grassroots people, organizations and Corporate partners, together in partnership, to spend the pace of unleashing One’s understanding of One’s power-role in society. With the proper resources we intend to continue employ a great amount of structure. We will continue to, through personal investment, worker retraining and physical fitness, to seek out innovative and transformative opportunities mixed with socially conscience partners to unleash and tap into the talents of African-American males and females between the ages of 13-26.
Our PurposeOur initial goals centered on helping a few children find peace and acceptance through sports and educational experiences. Main Event brings grassroots people, organizations and corporate partners, together in partnership, to increase the pace of unleashing One's understanding of One's power-role in society. We believe that each child has an inherent curiosity and love of learning and each child has unique intelligence, level of capability, and learning style. With this in mind, we place great emphasis on fully motivating our students as we guide them to efficiently realize their fullest potential.
Core ValuesIntegrity / empathy – We open our hearts to our student’s feelings and situations every practice, study session and every interaction.
Our BeliefsWe are successful if within 5 to 10 years after these young adults leave our program they are contributors to the betterment of their community and society, they are successful in the profession of their choice and they demonstrate the characteristics allowing them to be committed husbands/wives, devoted fathers and mothers
